Guarding the Quarterback is a finalist!

I'm happy to announce that Guarding the Quarterback is a finalist in the New Jersey RWA Golden Leaf Contest in the Best Novella category! The winners will be announced on Friday, October 14 at the NJRWA conference. Here is the excerpt that will be read if I win (fingers crossed)...

With another woman I would’ve shrugged off the rejection, but beneath her hand my heart pounded for her, my blood racing to my groin. She made a mistake. Now she was more than a challenge, she made herself forbidden fruit. I told myself that all this was. A lie. But it was my lie to live.
“But I have big reason why you should.” I hauled her up against my unmistakable hardness. The utter softness of her, melded to my body. To the world she wore armor of toughness and indifference but in my arms it all fell away.
Alexa’s wicked smile signaled my victory. Then she whipped out her gun and pressed it against my cheek. “And I have a bigger reason why we shouldn’t.”

As a good luck charm I'll be wearing a book charm that an awesome reader made for me! (thanks Jackie) Below there is a picture of me wearing it...

What happens after the happy-ever-after: Going For It

Have you read Going For It yet? No? Say what? Stop everything and go read it - then come back.
For those of you who have read it - here is a special treat!
Readers fell in love with football player Jake Miller and supermodel, Hannah Hahn in Going For It. In fact one fell so hard she asked me to check in on our sexy couple. How could I refuse? I love them too! It's been almost 3 years since I released Going For It and I was surprised how easy it was to recapture Jake and Hannah fire. Enjoy!  Please let me know what you think in the comments...

(What happens after the happily-ever-after…)

Jake didn’t need the baby monitor to hear the wail of his one-year old baby girl. His daughter’s voice sounded down the hall like a nuclear power plant siren.
Hannah nudged him. “Game time,” she sleepily mumbled.
     “Can you take this one?”
“I have a shoot tomorrow. I need my beauty sleep.”
“If you get anymore beautiful I’m going to go blind,” Jake said, nuzzling her neck.
“Mmmm…good one, but that will not get you out of diaper duty.”
Jake didn’t think it would, but it was true just the same. He whipped off the covers and trudged to the nursery. Standing in her crib, Maxine sobbed as if her world was ending. Jake knew how she felt. With every whimper his heart stopped, and with every cry he died a little, but then every smile, every laugh made it all worth the constant worry and lack of sleep.
Her tears did him in. Jake was so screwed. The tiny female turned this growling two hundred and twenty-five pound bear of a running back into a cuddly Teddy bear.
Maxine’s lips wobbled as she chanted, “Dadadada. Dadadada.”
     “Shhh, baby girl, Daddy’s here.”
In a heartbeat the wobble turned into a sing-song voice. “Daddeeee. Daddeee.” Her tiny arms stretched out for him.
Jake swooped her up but resisted the urge to turn this into playtime. He hummed a nonsensical tune as he changed her diaper. She started to fuss when he headed back to the crib. “Okay, just one song.” His daughter smiled. “Okay, two songs.” Jake sat in the rocker and sang her back to sweet dreams, thinking he was the luckiest man on Earth.

                                                ***
Hannah rolled over and tried to fall back asleep, but the sounds emitting from the monitor of father and daughter bonding with a late night lullaby kept her awake. She bit her nail and smiled as she listened. Jake’s humming had immediately settled Maxine. It was like she remembered her father’s deep voice from when he hummed to her while rubbing Hannah’s swollen belly.
Unable to stay away, she tiptoed to the nursery and peeked in. Seeing her big, powerful husband lovingly hold their child in his arms, rocking back and forth as he sang Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star was sexier than anything in the world.
This tiny creature had the scariest running back in the NFL wrapped around her pinkie finger.
She snuck back to bed as Jake returned a fast asleep Maxine to her crib. Along the way Hannah slid her silk robe to the floor, then shed the tank top, and then stepped out of her black-laced panties, leaving a trail for Jake to follow like Hansel. Only Jake was no boy in a fairy tale. He was her knight-in-white-boxer-briefs. She slipped between the sheets.
Jake entered the room twirling the panties around his finger. “I thought you needed sleep.” He raised a thick black brow, which was such a sexy contrast to his smooth caramel colored-bald head.
     “I need you more.”
Jake tossed the panties over his shoulder, took off his boxers, and then covered her naked body with his, the weight of him as familiar to her as her own body. A slow, steady rush filled her. In the stolen moments during the day their lovemaking was hard and fast, but in the quiet of the night, slow and intense.
Jake rolled over to get a condom. She stayed away from birth control pills since they could put up to ten pounds on her body. Ten pounds she couldn’t afford at this point in her career. So after literally busting her butt to regain her modeling body back, she was crazy to want another baby. But that’s exactly what she was. Crazy in love and she wanted her little family to grow.
“No, don’t.” She reached out and pulled Jake back to her.
     “I thought—
“I want Maxi to have a brother to boss around.”
Jake’s wide smile still caused her heart to flutter.
“It would be nice to even the score around here.”
     “Ha! You love it.”
     “I do at that.”
“Good. Now, give me that rosy, after sex glow to make up for missing sleep.”
“Hannah, you’re going break the lens with the glow I’m going to give you.”
His lips descended on hers. With a smoking kiss that would leave a blush on her face for hours and every time she relived it in her minds eye, Hannah knew she was the luckiest woman alive.

Miss Congeniality meets The Bodyguard - Guarding the Quarterback

Tuesday - April, 19, 2016 is release day for Guarding the Quarterback!

Order now!  Kindle

Here is the blurb along with some photo teasers!
Alexa Reeves
The quarterback of the NY Kings has a body to die for, and as Dean Walker's bodyguard I'm right in the line of fire. If that's not dangerous enough, I'm posing as his girlfriend to keep close. Yet, that isn't the worst part. He says I need a makeover to pass as his arm candy. Jerk. The more time I spend with him, the more my undercover role blurs with reality, and I'll lose more than my job if I step over the line and into his bed.
Dean Walker
Let's get something straight. I didn't ask for protection, especially in the form of a female. Isn't a death threat just another day in the life of a NY quarterback? Still, the owner of the team forces me to accept a security detail led by the tiny but tough Alexa Reeves.
But who is the real Alexa? The bodyguard, sworn to protect me, or the made-over vixen, determined to drive me crazy? As the stalker closes in, I realize I've put more than my life in her hands. Will Alexa safeguard my heart as fiercely as my body?

Songs to Write to - The Quarterback Sneak

I thought I'd share my playlist for The Quarterback Sneak ( which is available for a special preorder price of 99cents).

These are songs that relate to my characters and story.

Demons - by Imagine Dragons
Love Remains the Same - by  Gavin Rossdale
Harlem - by New Politics
Trumpets - by Jason Derulo

Are there certain songs that remind you of a person or place? Share in the comments!

This is a line a song by Eric Church called Springsteen -  'Sometimes a melody sounds like a memory'.
I love that line because it is so true for me.
For instance the song Jungleland by Bruce Springsteen takes me back to when when I was nineteen.
Going even further back Magic by Pilot takes me back to Knolls Summer Day Camp when I was 13!

After violating her probation, heiress Hayden Middleton must prove to the court she's changed her wild ways. To appease the judge, the tabloid queen agrees to a fake engagement, but there's nothing fake about the heat that sizzles between her and her father's saintly star quarterback.

Mastering the sex playbook isn't a problem for this wild couple. Outside the bedroom, this mismatched pair must plan a game strategy to confront their demons if their temporary arrangement has any chance of going long.

Huddle Up

Huddle Up is part of Sports Romance Blog
Hop. I asked Angel O'Malley, the heroine of Huddle Up, to stop by and share her Beer and Pretzel Cupcakes recipe that she made for my Super Bowl Party. (The team her husband Billy Burner plays on didn't get in this year..shhhh)

1 pkg (16.5 oz) dark chocolate fudge cake mix.
1 cup of beer
                                         3 eggs
1/3 cup oil

Preheat oven to 350 and line 24 muffin cups
with cupcake lines. Mix the ingredients above
on medium spread for 2 minutes. Divide among liners. Bake 18-20 minutes. Cool completely.

Take 1 can of icing and add a splash of beer and several tablespoons of green food coloring - mix. Then chill icing for a 30 minutes.

Ice cupcakes and trim with crushed pretzel pieces. Place a chocolate football on top. (make sure to unwrap the foil before eating the football)

Huddle Up:
When Angel O'Malley is left penniless by her deceased father's gambling debts, she is forced to sue pro football player Billy Burner for child support. Blindsided with a five-year-old daughter, he tackles fatherhood with the same commitment he gives to the game, but he has his eye on a bigger prize: Angel's heart.

She agrees to Billy's plan to play house to ensure the new father makes no rookie mistakes. Though their passions burn hotter than ever they must overcome old betrayals, past hurts, and new insecurities if they are to prevent history from repeating itself.

Can a long ago summer love turn into an everlasting one?

As part of the blog hop I'm giving away 1 eBook copy of Huddle Up to one commenter to be chosen at random on 2/6/14.

Coming Soon! Huddle Up (Fantasy Football - Season 3)!!

I'm editing Huddle Up the next in my Fantasy Football Romance series. Here is the opening lines and a teaser pic!

Less than twenty-four hours ago Billy Burner discovered he’d fathered a child. Maybe. Now he stood outside O’Malley’s clutching the court papers in his hand.

Huddle Up!

The first draft of the formerly titled Kiss Shot...  now titled... Huddle Up (Fantasy Football - Season 3) is complete! The cover needs to be updated or I maybe I'll have a whole new one created. For now though here is blurb:

When nursing student Angel O’Malley is left penniless by her deceased father’s gambling debts, she is forced to sue pro football player Billy Burner for child support. Blindsided with a five-year-old daughter, he tackles fatherhood with the same commitment he gives to the game, but he has his eye on a bigger prize: Angel’s heart.
She agrees to Billy’s plan to play house to ensure the new father makes no rookie mistakes. Though their passions burn hotter than ever they must overcome old betrayals, past hurts, and new insecurities if they are to prevent history from repeating itself.

"What's your game, stranger?" Angel O'Malley in Kiss Shot

Progress on Kiss Shot, the third season of my Fantasy Football Romance series, is slow. But word by word I'll get it done. Here is a photo I purchased for the book trailer I'll create once the book is done. It's close to how I envision Angel O'Malley, the heroine of Kiss Shot. What do you think?

Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart. ~William Wordsworth

Writing Status Update: I'm almost 3,000 words into Kiss Shot ("Fantasy" Football - Season 3) and while I'm very please with the start I have to say its slow going. I'm the slowest writer on the planet. It's not so much that I don't have the time to write but on my best day - and I mean all day long - I wrote 1,000 words. This is discouraging.

As I write this I'm reminded that in the past I would skip to a scene later in the book if I was having trouble with a current chapter. This is what I must do now.

I'm hoping to complete Kiss Shot by the end of June and have an August release date. If you haven't seen it yet here is the cover! I have it posted above my desk to keep me motivated.

“Aim higher in case you fall short.” ― Suzanne Collins, Catching Fire

I'm posting my goals for 2013 a few days earlier since on New Years Day I want to hit the ground running on achieving them.

The quote from Suzanne Collins is a good one. I didn't reach all my goals for 2012. In writing I reached 75% of them. Weight wise - um not so much - but I am more fit - hitting the gym to 3 to 4 times a week (until November that is - sigh).

Ok - so onto 2013.

Writing:
Finish getting the audiobook version of Love By Design up on Audible and iTunes.
Then get Going For It (Fantasy Football - Season 2) available on audio as well.
Start and finish Kiss Shot - (Fantasy Football - Season 3)
Start and finish Quarterback Sneak - (Fantasy Football - Season 4)
Plot out my spiritual/inspiration novel.
Plot out my Fantasy novella series.

Health/Fitness:
Get back to my 3 to 4 day gym schedule
Eat healthier
I'm doing this all because I want to FEEL better.

So there it is my goals for 2013. Do you think I can do it?
What are your goals?

One more quote...
“Far away there in the sunshine are my highest aspirations. I may not reach them, but I can look up and see their beauty, believe in them, and try to follow where they lead.”
 Louisa May Alcott

The part of Ryan Terell will be played by....

With that 'other' Playing For Keeps out in theaters with the sexy Gerald Butler I thought I should have my pick ready for when 'MY' Playing For Keeps is ever made into a movie.

Who plays sexy football player Ryan Terell?   Joe Manganiello.

Is there anyone else you think I should consider?
